Education

Ada Ohio from the air.I graduated from Eastlake North High School in Eastlake, Ohio in June, 1993. In high school, I was involved in the NHS Marching Ranger Band. I served as Field Commander for the marching band during my senior year and also co-directed the North High School Pep Band during basketball season. I was Senior editor of the North High School Lens, which is the school's yearbook. I was on the newspaper staff as a layout worker, photographer, and staff writer. Honors which I achieved at North included membership in the National Honor Society, graduation in the top 20% of my class, scores of  I at Ohio Music Educators Association Solo and Ensemble Contest, being selected as a featured senior soloist at the May, 1993 Spring Band Concert, and the John Philip Sousa Award.

In May of 1997, I graduated with Honors from the Smull College of Engineering at Ohio Northern University  in Ada, Ohio. My Major was Electrical Engineering, and I had a minor in Computer Science. My Senior design project was title "Development of a Crack Propagation Measurement System", and was sponsored by Cooper Tire of Findlay, Ohio and advised by Dr. Silas Carmean. At ONU, I was active in the I.E.E.E., Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Mortar Board. I also sang with the Ada First United Methodist Church choir for the four years I was on campus.

Following my graduation from ONU, I started graduate work at the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. Graduate work was conducted in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I was a member of the Advanced Computational Systems group. I graduated from UT with a Master of Science in Engineering Science in December, 1998. Both my thesis and conference articles are available online on my publications page.

After working in industry for Ford and Visteon, I returned to graduate school in the Fall of 2003 to work on my PhD. In the Spring of 2004, I was awarded the Ohio Space Grant Consorium Doctoral Fellowship, allowing me to return to study full time. My area of research focused on software reliability and software quality.  My work has been highly influences by that of Les Hatton and Jack Ganssle.  I successfully defended my dissertation in the Fall of 2007, and will receive my Doctoral Degree in December, 2007.
